Happy December! Christmas is well and truly on it's way. This month, my free desktop wallpaper for everyone on my mailing list, has become very festive. The tree is up and the cat has her eyes fixed on the Mouse King from the Nutcracker! I would have loved to have had time to add a few more items to the collection, but behind the scenes, I have a few different projects on the go at the moment, so I have parked those other ideas, hopefully for next year... The set of 5 cards are very nature and wildlife themed with a slightly vintage Christmas card feel, with pops of red berries, robins and toadstools... Each card is A6 sized and comes with a kraft envelope, printed on FSC card and are blank inside for your own festive message... They can be found over at my Etsy and Folksy shop, alongside some other Christmas card and gift wraps... Also, available from both my Etsy and Folksy shops are my 2020 calendar... I hope you have a great month and enjoy all the festivities and
preparations for the coming holidays Best wishes

Each year, for the past six years, I have created an annual calendar featuring an illustration or design for each month. This year, to follow on from last year's popular wildlife theme, the calendar for 2020 is packed with flora and fauna for each month and season.
This post showcases each spread of the calendar, month by month, so you can take a closer look. ... Happy March! Spring has sprung upon us. This month, my FREE desktop wallpaper for my email subscribers is channelling all the spring vibes. I saw a little blue tit perched at the top of the cherry tree in our garden this week. It was a beautiful blue sky day and the little bird was singing it's heart out. As soon I saw it, I knew what this month's desktop wallpaper had to be! My friends at Art Eco Designs had a stall there this year, the first time in five years. As I mentioned in last month's blog, the end of last year and beginning of this has seen me working on lots of new occasion card designs for them to take along. With many of my new designs very hot off my desk at the end of January, it was well worth my long journey to Birmingham to catch a first glimpse of them all as sample stock being launched at Spring Fair. It was wonderful to catch up with everyone on the stand and chat to the sales team about what's in demand from stockists - a very productive day indeed. Best of all was being able take the opportunity to arrange to meet up with some of my artist friends who live in the midlands and north England. That was exactly what I needed, to be able to wander around with great friends who work in the same way (from home, around their families, creating and designing for licence). It was lovely to be able to celebrate seeing each other's work on stands, gather ideas for coming trends, colours and themes.... I always come away from events like this with my head buzzing with ideas, it can be very overwhelming. Thankfully, I am a few years in to my creative business and know that it's important to fill that notebook up straightaway and then put it to one side. There will be obvious things to prioritise and action straight away, and other things that would be great to re-visit. That's why I enjoy travelling to events like this by train as it gives me a few hours straight after the event to gather my thoughts and jot them all down on the journey home.... Now that we have reached March, that means that it will soon be Mother's Day here in the UK. The date to remember is Sunday 31st March this year. Over at my Etsy and Folksy shops, I have a bright collection of floral and sweet Mother's Day cards and gift ideas. The images featured here include some new designs for this year... I hope you have a lovely month.
Don't forget to look up to the branches of the trees, you never know who you will see singing their song for spring from behind the blossom! Best wishes, |
